Director Peter Hewitt made the leap from sitcom star (he was the original Joey in Bread) to writer/ director thanks to Sliding Doors. Although his output since then hasn’t been as effective as that Gwyneth Paltrow vehicle, any movie with Christopher Walken, Morgan Freeman and William H Macy is worth a look, as this one proves. It centres on Roger, a security guard working at an American museum, who attempts to stop a beloved painting being sold to a gallery in Denmark, so he and two like-minded guards attempt to steal the piece. No classic, but it passes the time a treat.
It’s a steal: William H Macy, Christopher Walken and Morgan Freeman.
