Cathedral’s TV double up of Westminster Abbey

A CATHEDRAL in a Yorkshire city will double up as Westminster Abbey when it features in the second series of the flagship ITV period drama, Victoria.

A film crew has been at Ripon Cathedral this week to shoot scenes for the forthcoming series, which stars Jenna Coleman at Queen Victoria. The first series of Victoria was ITV’s highest rating drama of 2016, receiving critical acclaim and an average of 7.7m viewers.

The cathedral’s south nave aisle and north quire aisle were used to depict Westminster Abbey for the next series, which is expected to be broadcast in the autumn.
