Po­lice team up for op­er­a­tion

OF­FI­CERS FROM across the re­gion took part in a ma­jor op­er­a­tion fo­cus­ing on ru­ral crim­i­nals this week.

Op­er­a­tion Check­point ran overnight from Wed­nes­day into Thurs­day and tar­geted trav­el­ling crim­i­nals op­er­at­ing be­tween coun­ties in the North of Eng­land and Scot­land.

It cov­ered North York­shire, Cleve­land, Cum­bria, Durham, Lan­cashire and Northum­bria.

North York­shire Po­lice yes­ter­day said a to­tal of 35 ve­hi­cles were stopped there, with three ve­hi­cles seized for hav­ing no in­sur­ance.

No ar­rests were made in the county, but neigh­bour­ing forces made three ar­rests and sum­moned two peo­ple for poach­ing of­fences.
