Police team up for operation
OFFICERS FROM across the region took part in a major operation focusing on rural criminals this week.
Operation Checkpoint ran overnight from Wednesday into Thursday and targeted travelling criminals operating between counties in the North of England and Scotland.
It covered North Yorkshire, Cleveland, Cumbria, Durham, Lancashire and Northumbria.
North Yorkshire Police yesterday said a total of 35 vehicles were stopped there, with three vehicles seized for having no insurance.
No arrests were made in the county, but neighbouring forces made three arrests and summoned two people for poaching offences.
