Par­ents get help with school work

Par­ents, grand­par­ents and car­ers are be­ing of­fered a num­ber of free short cour­ses to en­able them to help their child with school work.

More than a third of chil­dren in the city – 36 per cent – left pri­mary school last year un­able to read well, ac­cord­ing to the Na­tional Lit­er­acy Trust, two per cent lower than the na­tional av­er­age.

Start­ing next week, Hull Cul­ture and Leisure’s Libraries team will de­liver the five-week cour­ses in In­cred­i­ble ICT and Fun with Phon­ics.
