Head­teacher’s pledge to be ‘out­stand­ing’

A sec­ondary school head­teacher has pledged to make his new school one of the best in the city.

Si­mon Hawkins took over at Fir Vale School four weeks ago af­ter join­ing from a school in Brad­ford. He be­lieves the school, which was rated as good by Of­sted in­spec­tors in 2015, has the po­ten­tial to be­come out­stand­ing. Mr Hawkins said: “It’s a very car­ing, in­clu­sive and am­bi­tious school with ex­cit­ing po­ten­tial to be­come out­stand­ing.”
