LEEDS: Yorkshire-born writer Philip Whiteley has launched an online crowdfunding appeal to help cover the costs of work on his latest novel.

Mr Whiteley, 55, is aiming to raise £4,000 as he moves towards the completion of romantic comedy The Rooms We Never Enter, which is set in Leeds. One of his previous novels, Marching On Together, won acclaim for the way it combined real-life events at Leeds United with an exploration of themes such as family and friendship.
