Slater leads Balby Carr into finals

An outstandin­g performanc­e by captain Nicola Slater (Woodsome Hall) helped book Balby Carr Community Academy a place at the national finals of the the Intercolle­giate Golf Tour.

The plus-one handicappe­r, a member of England Golf’s girls’ squad, was crowned league champion with the top gross score over four rounds.

The final round took place at Fleetwood where Slater shot 71.

Support came from Balby Academy of Sport team-mates Jack Wilson (Hallowes, two handicap) with 73, Charlie Daughtrey (Rotherham, scratch) with 76, George Mason (Wath, three) with 78, Owen Musgrave (Forest Pines, two) with 79 and and debutant Lewis Eccles (Dewsbury, four) with 81.

The A-team ended up runnersup in the gross competitio­n behind Myerscough, booking their place at the national finals, to be held at Hesketh on May 3-4.

Balby B topped the net standings by six shots over Myerscough.
