Council ‘could not save chandelier’

SCARBOROUGH: A local authority has said it was unable to save a chandelier before its demolition of the historic Futurist theatre began.

The £4.2 million razing of the building is under way and the inside of the theatre has been exposed. As well as the 2,000 seats that once made up the venue it has shown the large chandelier still in place.

Members of the public have taken to social media to question why it could not have been removed before the demolition.
