Ter­ror laws ‘cross the line’ on rights

Pro­posed new anti-ter­ror laws “cross the line” on hu­man rights, a par­lia­men­tary re­port claims.

The Joint Com­mit­tee on Hu­man Rights said the Gov­ern­ment’s plans risk “tak­ing the crim­i­nal law fur­ther into pri­vate spaces”.

The Counter Ter­ror­ism and Bor­der Se­cu­rity Bill in­cludes a range of mea­sures de­signed to tackle the threat from ter­ror­ism and “hos­tile state” ac­tiv­ity.
