Will bird flu re­stric­tions be im­posed on chicken keep­ers again this win­ter? No-one knows yet, and even the Govern­ment’s Chief Vet is hedg­ing his bets.

In an ar­ti­cle for Your Chick­ens, Pro­fes­sor Nigel Gibbens said we can’t say how likely the dis­ease is to re­turn this win­ter, but we have to be pre­pared for the pos­si­bil­ity.

Pro­fes­sor Gibbens says he re­alises the mea­sures im­posed last win­ter posed a chal­lenge to those who keep chick­ens, but he said their co­op­er­a­tion was a cru­cial part of the ef­forts to con­trol the dis­ease.
