A charity is calling on the country’s knitters to pick up their needles in the name of hen welfare.
The British Hen Welfare Trust is in need of a steady supply of egg cosies as they have become so popular that they are now a key fundraiser for the charity.
There are many fantastic patterns to work on so, if you are handy with a knitting needle, the charity would love to receive your designs.
Corinne Hendrie, the charity’s chief cosy inspector, said: “Our supporter’s egg cosies go down so well at shows and, more importantly, bring in lots of donations to help us save more hens. “
The British Hen Welfare Trust is well-known for its pioneering work in re-homing commercial laying hens and has found pet homes for more than 575,000 hens since hatching in 2005. MORE: www.bhwt.org.uk
