Which pure breeds?

QI would like three or four pure breeds and wondered which I should choose, I want them to give colour and interest to my garden

Charlotte Popescu says: You should try and get four hens of roughly the same size. To get a wonderful combination of colours, I would go for a Buff Sussex or a Vorwerk (on both breeds their feathers are a combination of brown and black), a Copper Blue Marans, (lovely deep grey with brown streaks in the neck) a Silver Laced Wyandotte or an Exchequer Leghorn (black and white) and something black, as they usually have a lovely black/green sheen to their feathers: maybe a black Orpington or a black Australorp. The Black Orpington is big and beautiful but placid so will get on with other hens.
