Seeing horses, ponies and donkeys in distress is heart-breaking and it’s now become the norm to see pictures of neglected and abandoned equines online. Here at Your Horse HQ, we receive press releases on this topic daily and I can’t imagine ever being immune to the sadness they bring. This month, our Rescue Update (page 10) brought me to tears. I will never be able to understand why people feel it’s acceptable to treat animals in this way. A tiny foal, abandoned in such a horrific way, and left to die. It’s just so sad. I’m so grateful for the hard work and effort of the countless people across the country working to protect, rescue and rehabilitate equines in need. What an amazing job they do. In testament to their efforts, just take a look above at some of the amazing equines that charities such as World Horse Welfare, the RSPCA and HAPPA have helped to save. All of these gorgeous guys have featured in our Rescue Updates and it’s so lovely to be able to see how far they’ve come. At Your Horse Live this November (11-12), you can meet horses and ponies like these in our Rescue Village. They’re all seeking forever homes and you can chat to the teams from the charities who care for them. We’ll also be running a special auction in our Equine Learning Zone, the proceeds of which will go to our brilliant Rescue Village residents. I hope that you can be there to meet the horses, the teams and bid on some fantastic lots. Need any more persuasion? Turn to page 10.
