The Ealing comedy Whisky Galore was great fun when it first came to our screens in 1949. Starring Basil Radford, Bruce Seton and Joan Greenwood, now it’s back and just as riotous as ever. Based on a real-life tale that was made into a book by Compton Mackenzie, the film tells the story of a group of Scottish islanders who try to plunder 50,000 cases of whisky from a stranded ship. The remake stars Rab C Nesbitt’s Gregor Fisher, Braveheart actor James Cosmo and comedian Eddie Izzard.
