Fine dining

YOURS (UK) - - Over To You - Carol Fletcher, Stroud

I invited friends over for lunch the other week and wanted to make the table look pretty, but didn’t have a lot of spare cash. So I borrowed a snowy white tablecloth from my motherin-law (she’d embroidered it by hand for her ‘bottom drawer’ 55 years ago). Then I begged my sister to lend me four plates from her bone china set and I bought four dainty cups for just £2 from a charity shop. Finally I bagged a 50p bunch of flowers and filled the cups with flowerheads for table decorations. The overall effect looked very pretty (see teacup picture above) and didn’t cost me a fortune.
