– NOT JUST FOR TEETH!

■ Re-whiten grubby trainers by giving them a quick scrub with toothpaste on a cloth. Too minty? Vaseline also makes a cheap shoe polish.

■ Keep your silver trinkets and jewellery lovely and shiny by rubbing with toothpaste before rinsing and cloth-drying. If

you’re lucky enough to have diamonds, it also works on them. ■ Unfog your bathroom mirror in a jiffy. Rub with toothpaste and wipe with a clean, dry cloth. ■ It sounds eccentric, but in a pinch you can fill small holes in the walls with a blob of toothpaste. You know that inevitable white lump of paste that sticks in the sink when you brush your teeth?

Use it to your advantage by rubbing it around with a sponge – it makes a great cleaner. You can also use it to clean water marks from the taps. Wipe a little toothpaste around your fridge seal to keep it clean and minty-fresh!

Just like coffee stains our teeth, it can also leave mugs looking brown and dirty. Rub coffee stains with toothpaste and rinse for a pristine finish.
