All sewn up
I thoroughly enjoyed the recent article Sewing With Mother. In the Fifties and Sixties I used to go to a department store in Dundee called Draffens. You could choose your pattern and fabric and an assistant would check your measurements. While you went for a cuppa she would cut out the garment for you. This was especially useful if you were making something with expensive material as you only paid for the exact yardage required.
