Stop wipers freezing to your windscreen and getting damaged by popping some long socks over them to protect them from ice and snow.

Wipe some cooking oil spray in the cracks of your doors and rubber seals to stop them from freezing shut at night.

Having fully working lights is especially important in winter. Keep yours as bright as possible by covering each light in toothpaste then rinsing off with warm water. Dry and apply a layer of wax. This will keep snow and water from sticking to your lights for weeks!

Mix together threeparts white vinegar and one-part water in a spray bottle. Spray this over windows to prevent ice forming.

Side mirrors

Cover your wing mirrors with plastic freezer bags and secure with an elastic band. When you remove them in the morning your mirrors will be ice free!

Whenever you can, try to park your car facing east overnight. As the sun rises, it will naturally defrost your windshield, giving you less ice to scrape off in the morning.
