For one of the peace talks in Minsk, Ukraine’s del­e­ga­tion brought cho­co­lates for its Rus­sian col­leagues. They bought the sweets in Ger­many, but the Rus­sians re­fused to give them a try — afraid they might be poi­soned. In Septem­ber, Rus­sian op­po­si­tion politi­cian Alexey Navalny was poi­soned with the Novi­chok nerve agent. At first, ex­perts thought that Navalny was poi­soned while drink­ing tea in the air­port. But then traces of the poi­son were found on a wa­ter bot­tle from his ho­tel room Tomsk, a city in Siberia..
