Air Astana is a national carrier of Kazakhstan and was incorporated in late 2001 and its maiden flight was on the 15th May 2002. Today Air Astana operates a fleet of 31 western aircraft with an average age of 7.8 years. It operates over 60 domestic and international routes. Its passengers are served by more than 4,700 highly qualified staff, the majority of whom are from Kazakhstan, supplemented by experienced foreign personnel. Since autumn 2005 the Air Astana team has been headed by Peter Foster, an airline executive with more than 30 years of management experience. Air Astana has purchase orders in place for Boeing 787, Airbus A320NEO and Embraer 190 family aircraft. These will expand the fleet to 32 aircraft by the end of 2017, and to 43 aircraft by 2020. 15th May 2017 airline celebrated its 15th Anniversary. Within this period airline reached awards as: “4-Star” Airline Star Rating by Skytrax Research - the first 4-Star airline in Eastern Europe and the CIS. Best Airline Central Asia and India at the 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013 and 2012 World Airline Awards. 2015 Airline Market Leadership award by Air Transport World. Since 31st March, 2013 Air Astana has been operating regular flights from Astana and Almaty to Kyiv. These services have progressed well, starting with three flights a week from Astana and three flights a week from Almaty, to a five per week frequency in the same year. However, owing different difficulties with situation on the market and traffic in 2014 airline was forced to cancel the flights from Astana, leaving only Almaty – Kiev flight connected with three frequencies a week. In 2015 economic situation in both countries was stabilized and airline noted traffic activity between Kazakhstan and Ukraine. Within one year on two occasions airline increased flight frequencies and now has daily flights on route Kyiv – Almaty.During 2016 airline transported about 60,000 passengers on route Almaty – Kyiv – Almaty.Trade, economic partnership, mutual ethnic and cultural relations between Ukraine and Kazakhstan are developing. Moreover trade relations of Ukraine with other countries are also growing and supporting this Air Astana offers convenient connections from Kiev to Asia and Indian Subcontinent destinations, such as Bangkok, Beijing, Seoul, Delhi, Ho Chi Minh, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Tashkent, Dushanbe and Bishkek. And the significant traffic growth between Kazakhstan and Ukraine allowed to relaunch flight Astana – Kyiv from 1st of June with 5 frequencies a week. Flight relaunch coincided with EXPO2017 exhibition which is held in Astana. As an official carrier of EXPO-2017 exhibition Air Astana has prepared something special for its passengers. Everyone flying on an international flight originating outside of Kazakhstan with arrival in Astana between 01 June and 10 September 2017 will be able to get a free entrance ticket to EXPO 2017. ©
