Who is able to liberate a person from voluntary slavery
Recently, mass movements, actions, where crowds of people, open-air shouting slogans, proclaiming freedom and independence of the whole people, have become very popular. Indeed, does a person have something more valuable than independence? Yes, humanity still values freedom very much, but why is there so little free people? Moreover, every day there are more and more people wishing to get into any kind of dependence: from coffee, cigarettes, alcohol and drugs, food, shopping trips, someone else's opinion, etc. The most paradoxical thing is that not everyone wants to get rid of this, not to mention that he does not want to admit it.
Since the 80s, we have faced an unprecedented scale and consequences of the problem of drug and alcohol dependence. Such people develop a stable pattern of behavior, antisocial inclinations, a desire to achieve their own at any cost. As a result, lies, theft, fraud ruin lives not only by the dependent, but also by their relatives. We must understand that it is not easy for these people, like anyone else, to get that cherished freedom, and how important it is for someone to extend a helping hand.
To this end, there is a widely ramified network of outpatient and inpatient medical institutions, with a large role in the work of psychiatrists, narcologists and psychologists. They continue to strengthen their positions in providing counseling and psychotherapeutic assistance to dependent patients and their relatives. The work of

a psychologist is carried out in three main directions:
1. Diagnostic and consultative work with dependent patients. Analysis of psychological characteristics of the disease, dynamics, motivation for seeking help. Preliminary psychological counseling.
2. Advising relatives and individuals from the immediate environment of patients.
Psychological help is required not only by the patients themselves, but also by people close to them (co-addicted) who often take a detached-defensive position, experiencing feelings of despair, helplessness, guilt, etc. This is required not only to overcome co-dependence, but also to create a healthy atmosphere, It is necessary for the patient's socialization to return.
3. Psycho correctional and psycho therapeutic work. Here the work of specialists is carried out in accordance with the stages of the emotional reaction of the dependent who emerged in the course of treatment to the patient's full awareness of the need to refrain from alcohol / drug use: denial (misunderstanding of what other people / experts about alcoholism / drug addiction say, which arose due to abuse); aggression (charges, search for the guilty); compromise (the dependent tries to find a way to solve the above problems without stopping the use of alcohol / drugs); depression; adaptation (full recognition of dependent dependency, building up their own lives, taking into account the presence of this disease).
The main goals of rehabilitation work with dependent patients is to increase the effectiveness of social rehabilitation, reduce consumption, reduce the frequency and duration of relapse, achieve a stable remission, and improve the quality of life. It is necessary to help a person "build" himself and his life in such a way that he does not return to drug use and while living and feeling normal.
Since 2010, the Center for Medical and Social Rehabilitation has been opened in the Kyiv Oblast Psycho-Narcological Association. The Center is headed by the Master of Psychology Ivashchenko VK.
The main tasks of the Center are:
- providing comprehensive medical, psychological and social assistance to socially maladjusted patients of psychiatric and narcological profile;
- providing visitors to the center with rehabilitation programs with individually defined amounts of medical
and social assistance depending on social needs and conditions;
- Organizational and methodological work, training of employees who are directly involved in rehabilitation of patients.
Collaboration with dependent patients is carried out individual and group psychotherapy.
Every day about 120 patients attend rehabilitation sessions, 5 group sessions (groups of 10-12 people) and 1 collective (from 50 to 90 people) are held per day. After discharge, patients have the opportunity to continue to visit the Center on an outpatient basis.
There are 18 psychologists and 17 social workers working in the medical association. In their work, psychologists use various techniques: cognitive-behavioral therapy, rational therapy, symbolism, psychoanalysis, client-centered therapy, relaxation, etc. The "12 steps" program is used, and patients participate in the meetings of the "Alcoholics Anonymous" society.
Rehabilitation activities in the association are divided into general, which are held on the territory of the Center, and on "separate" within the offices.
All rehabilitation work in the association is conditionally divided into 3 stages:
The first stage is "rehabilitation therapy". The focus is on drug treatment and individual psychotherapeutic interventions. Particular attention is paid to the restoration or acquisition of personal hygiene and self-care skills. An individual plan of rehabilitation measures is drawn up.
At this stage, classes are held: exercise therapy, the sports complex "Bodyflex" - in order to preserve and restore the motor activity. To influence the restoration and preservation of the emotional sphere, we use a more sophisticated technique - dance-motor therapy. Great importance is attached to art therapy.
The second stage is "readaptation". The task of this stage is the restoration of adaptability to the conditions of the external environment. At this stage, the following activities are used: music therapy, aromatherapy, sand therapy, design studio, film club, training of communicative skills. A lot of attention is paid to "sociotherapy", i.e. treatment of employment and entertainment. Widely used therapy is creative self-expression, disco, dendrotherapy (growing and caring for flowers, flower beds), board games.
Labor therapy is considered one of the methods for stimulating the social activity of patients.
The third stage is "work with convalescent patients". Particular attention is paid to the development of motivation for the forthcoming discharge, return to society. The main emphasis is on supporting psychosocial therapy.
The applied complex of rehabilitation measures allows to improve the condition of patients. The discharged patients, thanks to the motivation for recovery, formed during the treatment and rehabilitation, maintain constant contact with the attending physician, psychologist, and other employees of the department and the Center. In turn, we provide support to the patient outside the hospital, which strengthens the installation for sobriety, stimulates the regular intake of medications, and their timely correction.
The creation of the "Center for Medico-Social Rehabilitation" brought the rehabilitation work in medical association to the level of the foremost psychiatric institutions in Ukraine.
