ISLAND OF HAWAI‘I
The Big Island has been likened to a mini continent for its enormous diversity in climate and geology. Eleven of the earth’s 13 climate zones, from tropical rainforest to subarctic tundra, can be found here. Almost as large as the state of Connecticut, it’s the only Hawai‘ian island where you can stretch out and take a drive. You’ll cover about 300 miles in a trip around the island. It can be done in a day, but you’ll miss a lot.
