GIRLS’ DREAM HOME COMES TO LIFE
The perfect playhouse
What began as a simple children’s playhouse has turned into a vacation destination,” Julie Kantrowitz of JK Interior Living says. “It was hard not to fall in love with this Ridgewood project. Furnishing a miniature house brought me back to furnishing my dollhouse as a child. Anything done in such small scale is irresistibly precious.”
Kantrowitz began this project wanting to enhance what was already a great play space. By adding pale pink and violet hues to the walls, she instantly transformed the space into a whimsical retreat. The floor was painted white, and with the help of painter’s tape, a contrasting lime green painted border was added to coordinate with the fabric on the HomeGoods upholstered arm chairs. The petite table and chairs are from Pottery Barn Kids and suited the space perfectly for little ladies who lunch. Soft, oversized throw pillows in magenta, turquoise and white were added to the upstairs loft.
On the front porch, Kantrowitz selected children’s rocking chairs and painted them a soft Tiffany blue. The mailbox was an added touch as the little girls await their invitations.
Playhouse colors include Benjamin Moore Soft Pink, Amethyst Cream and Dark Lime.
