FOOD AND WATER
FEMA suggests having an emergency supply of one gallon of water, per person, per day. In your emergency supply, keep a bottle of unscented bleach, which can be used to purify water by adding 1/8 of a teaspoon of bleach to one gallon of water.
Have at least three days’ worth of food in storage and remember to buy food that can be prepared without heat or power. And while canned beans seem like a reasonable option, your finicky 5-year-old might be unlikely to eat them. Plan on stockpiling food your family will actually eat.
