Com­bine first four in­gre­di­ents in a saucepan on low heat. Steep mix­ture for 15 min­utes (do not boil). Com­bine egg yolks and sugar in large bowl and whisk. Slowly add co­conut milk to egg yolks while whisk­ing so as not to cook the yolks. Add tem­pered yolks and cream mix back to saucepan. Cook on low heat, stir­ring con­stantly, for three to four min­utes un­til mix coats back of spoon.
