Combine first four ingredients in a saucepan on low heat. Steep mixture for 15 minutes (do not boil). Combine egg yolks and sugar in large bowl and whisk. Slowly add coconut milk to egg yolks while whisking so as not to cook the yolks. Add tempered yolks and cream mix back to saucepan. Cook on low heat, stirring constantly, for three to four minutes until mix coats back of spoon.
