HOW DOES PICO SURE COMPARE TO OTHER LASERS?

201 Health - - Body Image - DR. JAIME BASTIDAS CHUBACK MEDICAL GROUP, PARAMUS

A primary competitor on the market for tattoo removal is the Q-switched laser. Both technologies utilize lasers to break up the ink particles that are ultimately dissolved in your body. In contrast, the Pico Sure laser is measured in pico-seconds and its competitor is measured in nano-seconds. A picosecond is 1/1000 of a nano second, making the former significantly faster. Another difference is that Pico Sure uses photomechanical or pressure waves, breaking down the tattoo into smaller particles while Q-switched lasers utilize photo thermal (heat) to accomplish the procedure.

“Of particular consequence is the Pico Sure’s ability to remove some of the most difficult-colored inks like green and blue,” Bastidas explains. “Even if you have undergone other tattoo removal procedures in the past, you are still a candidate for this process.”

Ultimately, patients who opt for Pico Sure will require fewer treatments and will achieve the final result faster.

WHAT IS THE COST?

It is not an inexpensive procedure given the high cost of this cutting-edge technology, but should be discussed directly with your physician to determine pricing on a case by case basis. Patients must weight the differential in the speed of the removal process and effectiveness of the Pico Sure laser against other protocols.

“The Pico Sure Laser is significantly more effective than other lasers in eliminating a tattoo in that it takes half the number of sessions for the process to be complete”
