Comfort through food with the help of the HealthBarn Foundation
Afew years ago when Stacey Antine, registered dietitian and director of the HealthBarn Foundation, was taking care of her father during his cancer treatments, the simple act of preparing him a healthy meal proved challenging. “With all of the hours we spent with him in treatment, my mom and I were wiped out and the idea of making him a healthy meal at the end of every day was daunting,” she says.
The experience got her thinking. “If it’s difficult for a dietitian to prepare something nutritious, imagine what it must be like for the parent of a child with a serious illness who just doesn’t have the energy or the means to do this,” Antine says.
