QI get so many great tips from this magazine, but I’ve never seen this one. Maybe I missed it. Back when I started driving, my dad helped me change a glazed serpentine belt on my Mustang. He wouldn’t let me cut it off. He took the old one and put it in the sleeve from the new one and had me put it in the back under the spare tire. He said a worn-out belt was better than a broken one. I recently changed a misaligned belt on my 4x4, and although it was three ribs from being full width, I knew it would be better than no belt out in the woods as I threw it in the back.
