Ryan Paevey Is Ready For BATTLE!

When ABC rebooted BATTLE OF THE NETWORK STARS and invited GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Ryan Paevey (Nathan) to the games — he competes in the episode airing on Thursday, August 17 — he didn’t hesitate. “I was like, ‘Dude, are you kidding me? I’d do this for free!’” the actor tells Soaps In Depth with a laugh. “It’s like what I do for fun, all the time.”

The In Depth Story: The competition — which includes everything from an obstacle course to archery — was shot over the course of a day back in May and saw Paevey team up with TV cops Marisol Nichols, Roma Maffia, Adrian Zmed (Basil, PASSIONS) and Fred Dryer against a fierce scifi fantasy team of Lou Ferrigno, Vinnie Jones, Charisma Carpenter, Kevin Sorbo and Jill Wagner.

“As soon as I saw the lineup, I figured, ‘Let’s just have fun,’” Paevey chuckles. “We didn’t have an

athlete on [my] team. I’m not even an athlete myself — I just do this stuff for fun. So the teams were hopelessly stacked against us, but the whole day was pretty awesome.”

In addition to the action, Paevey enjoyed hanging with the other celebs. “I don’t get star struck… but I also don’t know what I was doing there,” deadpans the actor. “We’re from a totally different universe! It was awesome to be around them and everybody was really cool. We just talked and laughed about how sore we were, our joints cracking and popping and the absurd neon pink shoes.”

The GH hunk walked away from BATTLE with several wins — including a record breaker — and confesses that he felt the burn afterwards! “Honestly, it took me about 7 days to recover,” Paevey admits. “The first two days, I could barely move my legs because they were so messed up. I was blown away by how jacked up I got. People don’t want to hear the whole ‘I’m getting old’ conversation, but I am!”

Even as we wait to see Paevey doing BATTLE, we can’t help wondering if he’d do it again. “I had a blast,” he admits, adding that despite the aches and pains that came after, “I definitely hope they bring me back next year!”

How did Det. SexyPants fare against The Hulk? “I beat Lou Ferrigno in archery!” boasts Paevey.
