Q.This baffles me: Isn’t GH’s Jake older than Josslyn? To me, he looks like a very young child, while she looks like a teenager!

Marie via E-mail

A.Your visual analysis is right on! Naturally, the answer to this goes back to a nasty case of SORAS (soap-opera rapid-aging syndrome)! Joss was born on screen on November 3, 2009 — more than two years after Jake’s birth on May 4, 2007 — but she’s quite a bit older now. After being believed dead from 2011 to 2015, Jake ultimately returned home alive, well and the right age. Josslyn, meanwhile, stayed on the canvas and was aged four times. With 14-year-old Eden McCoy now playing the role, Bobbie recently reamed Joss for drinking while being “underage by seven years!” That would make the character around 14 years old as well — while Jake’s only 10!

Q.I wish THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL’s Rick would have visited his little sister, Hope, or at least mentioned her the last time he and Maya traveled to Paris. Isn’t she supposed to be working over there?

Ashley I. via E-mail

A.To be fair, while soap characters do often seem to fall prey to an “out of sight, out of mind” mentality, Rick might not actually have forgotten his sister. It’s just that she is said to be living in Milan, not working for the Paris division of Forrester! And Brooke, at least, does occasionally mention her absentee daughter. She’s even been said to visit Hope on occasion.

Wow. Girls really do mature faster than boys.

Those are the looks of people who are greeting Hope with “Hey… you!”
