Ins & Outs
When William deVry’s contract negotiations with GENERAL HOSPITAL hit a stalemate, Julian was sent to prison. But the actor, who has been off work since June 30, has finally hammered out a new deal with the show, and Soaps In Depth has all the details!
The In Depth Story: The fan favorite filmed what very well could have been Julian’s exit scenes before GH’s summer hiatus. But despite his ongoing contract renegotiations, deVry always knew he and executive producer Frank Valentini would come to an agreement. “I kept my dressing room all set up, waiting for me,” he winks. “I left it there for a while, because I had that much confidence in Frank. I believed all along that we both wanted Julian back.”
Now that they’ve reached an agreement, reportedly for three more years, deVry is expected to return to the set in early October. “Originally, we talked about September, but based on my work schedule, it got
pushed,” explains the actor, who will be busy shooting his wine competition series, BEST BOTTLE, this month and is also up for a few primetime guest spots. This will likely keep Julian off the canvas until November or December, but the actor quips, “With two Jasons, there’s going to be a lot of story to tell on GH.”
While viewers are sure to be entertained by that drama, deVry can’t wait to dive back into Julian’s story — and outspoken fans who took to social media during his negotiations clearly felt the same. “I saw an outpouring of support from fans like I’ve never seen before,” he marvels. “It was very unexpected. felt like they were just madder by the day. That wasn’t any kind of leverage, though. That wasn’t the issue. I wanted what I was asking for. You have to know your value.”
To that end, he reminds fans, this was never personal. “Frank doesn’t have an easy job,” he sighs. “I know fans were frustrated by my situation. I want to say thank you for supporting the show, Julexis and Nancy [Lee Grahn, Alexis] and myself. We appreciate it. Frank appreciates it. Hopefully, we can move on

from this, and it’ll be like it never happened. I’ve loved these last four years on GH. I like my bosses, the character, my co-stars and my co-star Nancy. This is a great team — which is why I wanted to be a part of the solution.”
Now, GH just has to figure out what to do with Julian! “People get out of jail all the time,” Valentini teases. “So it’s: A) Will he get out of jail? B) If he does, why and how? and C) How does that affect Alexis, Julexis, Mulexis? Anything can happen — and that’s what’s fun!” (Turn the page for more Ins & Outs!)
During his time away from GH, deVry has been auditioning. “I’ve got some stuff that could potentially take hold,” he shares.
Julian’s sacrificing himself to save his family was “selfless,” says deVry. “It was true love.”
