FIRED UP!

THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL’s Sally Spectra has overcome obstacle after obstacle in her fight to revive the Spectra Fashions brand, but her latest roadblock — seeing her offices destroyed in a horrible conflagration — looked more like the end of the road than a mere setback. Coupled with Bill’s destruction of her romance with Thomas by telling a damnable lie, Sally has had to withstand a lot of bad news, both professionally and personally, in recent weeks. “She has worked so hard, and it’s like she just keeps getting clubs swung at her face,” says

struggles to rise from the ashes,

Courtney Hope weighs in on her

portrayer Courtney Hope with a sigh. “It’s pure tragedy. The second she feels like she’s made some strides, she just keeps getting pushed back.”

That’s Gotta Hurt

Watching the Spectra office set ablaze was emotional for Hope. Though she’s only been treading that set for the past nine months, it hit her hard to see it go up in smoke, knowing all the history it’s been part of. “It was so visceral to all of us [in the Spectra gang] to see it burn,” she explains. “We watched from a video feed and all started to cry. That set had seemed so real, and we’d spent so much time there.”

While filming a scene where Sally tried to re-enter the burning office to save her designs, Hope actually got injured, cutting her ankle on the door! “At the time, I didn’t notice because my adrenaline was going,” she shares, “but afterward, someone was like, ‘You’re bleeding.’ ‘Ow! You’re right!’”

A New Man?

Though many wondered if this latest tragedy would be the final straw for Sally’s professional ambitions, Hope doesn’t think that her alter ego could give up, even now. “That dream,” she reminds, “has been her goal since she was a child.”

Though the recent exit of Pierson Fodé as

Thomas spells one more heartbreak for Sally, who had fallen head over heels for the dashing designer, we’ve already seen hints that her new “savior,” Liam, could end up turning into much more than just a business partner. “Yeah, that would pretty much be the ultimate blow to Steffy,” Hope acknowledges with a laugh. “Talk about a romantic rivalry!”

At press time, Hope wasn’t tipping her hand about what might transpire between Sally and Liam, but fans have noticed a definite on-screen chemistry between her and Scott Clifton. “You never know what will happen,” the actress teases. “Liam’s a great guy, and I think at this point in time, just to have somebody who is stable and who cares is important for Sally. He sympathizes with her side of the story.”

Fight On!

From what we know thus far about Sally, it isn’t likely that she will bow out when the chips are down, but it remains to be seen what lengths she’ll go to in order to claw her way back. Though she has resorted to mischief in the past, she has since vowed to walk the straight and narrow path, a fact her portrayer appreciates. “I’m glad they’ve kept her genuine at heart,” she admits, “even when she’s doing something that’s a bit off-the-cuff.”

The redhead will invariably soldier on from these recent difficult weeks, but to predict smooth sailing ahead would be utterly foolish. Sally’s so disaster-prone, “I definitely have these moments of ‘Oh, here we go again,’” says Hope with a laugh. “But we need these obstacles.”

Hope says co-star Patrika Darbo (Shirley) keeps her in stitches on the set. “She’s got a sense of humor for days,” she notes, “especially when it comes to her little Southern sayings. I’m always like, ‘Is that a thing, or did you make that up?’”

Hope admits that she would love to see Sally give saboteur Bill a run for his money. “Absolutely. I have a lot to say to Bill,” the actress chuckles. “That would be fun for me, especially because I have a blast working with Don [Diamont, Bill].”

Hope and boyfriend Chad Duell (Michael, GENERAL HOSPITAL) explored the City Of Lights this summer. “Paris has always been

No. 1 [on my bucket list],” exclaims the actress. “I have to go back. We didn’t have

enough time to see everything.”

“I think I made some dumb joke like, ‘Is this supposed to protect me from sharks?’” quips Hope of the unusual crinoline Sally rocked in Monte Carlo.
