Brianna Brown (ex-Lisa)
DYNASTY role is almost as screwy as GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Lisa
Having starred on GENERAL HOSPITAL as mad doc Lisa, Brianna Brown was a no-brainer for the role of kooky Claudia on The CW’s reboot of DYNASTY. “What’s ironic is that my mother wouldn’t even let me watch soaps when I was young,” she laughs. But “it’s fun to get to play in this heightened world where they could write anything and you say, ‘How can I make this work?’”
When DYNASTY debuts on Wednesday, October 11, Claudia will be re-introduced as the mentally ill wife of Matthew, with whom Cristal had been having an affair. While we can’t tell you how that plays out, we can reveal that it leads to the kind of edgy moments that Brown performed so well on GH. “When I had a meeting about [playing Lisa], they said they wanted it to be a Fatal Attraction storyline,” she reflects. “So I knew it was going to go dark and crazy.”
Sure, the actress is good at playing offkilter and crying on cue, but it’s her jawdropping performance at the end of DYNASTY’s pilot that confirms exactly why she was hired. Might Claudia go down a path as dark as Lisa did after being jilted by Patrick? “Probably,” Brown teases, adding that she’ll return in Episode 5. “I wouldn’t be surprised if the storyline goes in that direction. Claudia stays on the canvas.”
While the character’s surely headed for heartbreak, Brown herself is on cloud nine after wedding director Richie Keen last
May at a private estate in Santa Barbara’s wine country. “It was pretty spectacular,” she gushes.
Recently, the bride got the chance to work with her love — whom she found to be “fun, light-hearted, and very efficient” — on the set of Fox’s THE MICK via a guest appearance in the Tuesday, September 26, episode.
“For DYNASTY, everything I’m wearing is baggy, my hair is stringy, and my only makeup is a bit of lighter foundation to make me look sickly,” Brown shares. “So I was excited to be all glammed up for THE MICK.”
However, it’s not always fun and games for Brown, who’s making a difference supporting socially-conscious projects via her non-profit, The New Hollywood. Look for her to appear next in an indie that she’s “really proud” of: Elevate, in which she stars as a woman caught up in a situation involving racism.

Boding well for Brown’s DYNASTY future is the fact that Pamela Bellwood lasted six seasons as Claudia.
The actress’ first DYNASTY episode
“was very emotional,” she says. “I came at every take with 100 percent of what was needed.”
“Kimberly McCullough (Robin) and I had a blast working together,” the GH alum reflects. “She’s a sweetheart.”
