ABC Soaps In Depth - - News -

As you may have heard by now, a certain fellow who happens to look like Jason is about to turn GENERAL HOSPITAL upside-down. (See the In Depth Cover Story, page 24, for details.) But as co-headwriters Shelly Altman and Chris Van Etten tell us, there’s much more happening around Port Charles. Read on for all the details!

Questions Galore!

The mystery surrounding Patient 6’s true identity will obviously impact numerous lives… including some you might not necessarily expect. “It’s huge,” says an excited Altman. “It’s always exciting when you can tell a story that involves so many characters.”

Obviously, that includes Liz and Franco. “If there were no Jasons in town, Franco would be perfectly happy,” laughs Altman. “Having one in his life is bad enough, two is twice as much trouble!”

Despite that, Van Etten shares that Franco “will come upon critical information that could unravel a large part of the Jason mystery.”

But the biggest question remains: “Who engineered this plot with the two men?” muses Altman. “And why?”

A Family In Crisis

Even as all this madness surrounds Carly and Sonny, they remain in a good place. “They are really solid,” says Altman, “and they need to be. It’s important that they present a united front as they deal with not only the Jason situation but the dramatic struggles being faced by their children!”

For example, Michael is becoming a little paranoid around Nelle. Can a relationship survive when one party has trust issues with the other? “That is definitely an issue they have to solve one way or the other,” agrees Altman. Will Curtis — when not helping find out the truth about Patient 6 — be able to either set Michael’s mind at ease or prove Nelle’s nefarious intent once and for all?

Julian Returns!

Sam’s been doing everything in her power to push Alexis toward starting a new, Julian-free life. But her efforts are about to run into a major roadblock! When at last William deVry returns to the screen, Altman says that Julian won’t simply stroll out of prison. “He will still be behind bars,” the writer confirms. “But something that happens while he is incarcerated will once again pull an unwitting and unwilling Alexis back into his orbit. As a result, it

will propel her to visit a very surprising person!”

And has this time away from Julian allowed Alexis to move on? “Julian is definitely not out of her system,” says Van Etten, “although she will try valiantly to move on!”

A New Romance?

“Anna and Valentin aren’t done with each other by any means,” warns Van Etten. She could, however, wind up being distracted by other matters… including Finn. The two have spent a lot of time butting heads, but might pretending to be a couple result in something unexpected arising between them? “One never knows when something that begins as a reluctant business relationship might go in another direction,” teases Altman.

And while Valentin and Lulu have found a way to co-parent for the moment, Van Etten says Charlotte’s mom will be looking “for any opportunity to rip the rug out from beneath him.” And although Valentin and his wife are on pretty sol- id ground, the double whammy of Anna and Cassandra could combine to bring Nina’s old insecurities bubbling up!

In Other News

Kevin’s planning to knock Laura’s socks off, but Altman warns that “her desire to have things a certain way may wind up backfiring!” • “Maxie’s acceptance of the Man Landers situation may be short-lived when another player comes into the mix,” previews Van Etten, adding that with Maxie back in Port Charles to stay, “expanding their family is definitely something she and Nathan will start seriously considering now.”

Carly and Sonny will need to work together in order to help their family navigate the rough waters ahead.

Although he hired Curtis to clear Nelle’s name, Michael may also be just a little worried that she can’t be trusted!

Altman says that Franco’s resolve to always be truthful with Elizabeth will be “tested” in the weeks to come.

If it weren’t for Charlotte, it’s likely that the adults in her life would avoid being in the same room whenever possible.

Nathan and Maxie finally seem ready to give Georgie a sibling!
