Ingo Rademacher’s Message For A New Jax!
GENERAL HOSPITAL fan favorite Ingo Rademacher tells Soaps In Depth that he wasn’t necessarily looking to swap shows, but now that he’s been tapped to play THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL’s new Thorne, he’d have no hard feelings about Jax being recast!
The In Depth Story: When the GH vet moved his family back to the mainland from Hawaii earlier this year, there was hope we’d see even more of Jax in Port Charles. And we did, for a spell. “We came back in January so my wife could be closer to the factory for her clothing line, Mahiku,” he sets up. “We weren’t shopping me around the daytime shows. I was just going out for auditions, and I was working pretty much non-stop. It was GH, then it was HAWAII FIVE-O [where he recurs as prosecutor Robert Coughlin], then back on GH. There wasn’t much of a break in between.”
During his last visit to Port Charles in April, however, Sonny had Jax deported… and that was that. “I hadn’t heard anything from them,” Rademacher admits. So he kept hustling. Flash-forward to this summer, and an offer came from B&B that he couldn’t refuse. “It’s not like I was
out looking for a contract role on a daytime show. I was wide open to everything. This came along, and we worked it out.”
Now that he’s heading to the CBS soap to take over a character played off and on for two decades by Winsor Harmon (Del, ALL MY CHILDREN), Rademacher is ready to pass the torch to the next guy to walk in Jax’s shoes, should GH recast the role. “They can do whatever they want over there,” he says with a shrug. “It’s out of my hands. I would wish him luck! What else can you do?”
Rademacher makes his B&B debut on Monday, November 27.
Rademacher wasn’t looking to leave GH, it just happened.
