When Mama Bears Attack!
Remember when GENERAL HOSPI- TAL’s Luke and Laura came back to town in that hot pink Cadillac? Well, she may have topped that memorable return when, fresh from having dropped Spencer off at boarding school, she flew back to town, grabbed a boat to Wyndemere and held Valentin at gunpoint while she uttered a Helena-worthy curse! By pulling the trigger on that unloaded weapon, Laura managed to reduce Valentin to a stuttering, fearful man… and we couldn’t have been happier. As much as we love James Patrick Stuart and the complicated villain he brings to life, Valentin shot Kevin and killed Nikolas, two characters that we care about almost as much as Laura. The enmity Laura and Lulu have toward Valentin plays beautifully into the long-running feud between their respective clans while also giving us hope that maybe, just maybe, good will win out over evil… or at least have a fighting chance for a change!
him. Introducing to his story Ava — the living embodiment of sin — only upped the stakes in the metaphorical war for Griff’s soul. So it was interesting that, even while playing the obvious sexuality of the connection be-
tween Griffin and Ava, the soap seems to also be reminding viewers what Griffin’s God and religion are really all about. Ava was only rescued because she showed kindness to a stranger — and then that stranger was literally shoed and sheltered by the church! Afterward, Griffin called Ava’s miraculous escape divine intervention. Whether you believe in that, we appreciated the way the show had the tenets of the church and basic goodness help save the day — especially amid all the fight scenes and firearms!
“The real miracle? That our flight took off on time!”
