Action! back in W

ABC Soaps In Depth - - Feature Interview -

Steve Burton is almost as excited as GENERAL HOSPITAL fans about his return to the soap!

hen Steve Burton left the role of GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Jason in 2012, it was all about spending time with his wife and kids in Tennessee. He then took on the role of THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS’ Dylan for three years, after which he realized he needed another dose of family time. Upon leaving that soap, he spend nearly a year enjoying his loved ones (and launching a business, Burton Nutrition, with them) before finally deciding it was time to head back to his other home, Port Charles.

Father Figure

“Being home, I saw what I’d been missing — and how hard my wife’s job is!” quips the proud father of three (Makena, 14; Jack, 11; and Brooklyn, 3). “I coached, took my daughter to her piano lessons, took my children to school and got to do all these cool things I never got to do when I was working so much.”

During his time at home, he’s not the daytime superstar fans know him as, but rather… well, just Dad! “I guess because I don’t focus on acting when I’m with the kids, they don’t really focus on it,” Burton says. “I’ve shown them old, cool action sequences from GH and stuff like that on YouTube, but Makena’s a teenager, and my son’s not much of a TV guy. They’ve got their own things going on.”

The youngest, however, may be a different story. In fact, she may just wind up taking after her father! “Brooklyn’s a wild woman,” Burton laughs. “She’s a performer. We’ll see… ”

“My wife, my brother-inlaw and I talked about it forever,” he says of Burton Nutrition. “It’s our passion.”

“I love to coach and motivate people,” says Burton, who interacts with customers via FacebookLive.

“If I feel good about myself, I’m going to be positive, and that’s going to rub off on somebody else,” Burton suggests. “And in the world we live in, we need that!”
