“I was at GH for 20 years but only went back to visit once,” he says of his time away. “So driv­ing into the stu­dio and through the gate again was sur­real. It felt like the first time… but I’d ob­vi­ously been there! So it brought back all kinds of good mem­o­ries. And now, I’m back work­ing with the cast and crew, again. It feels like home.”

Back To The Fu­ture

The ac­tor ac­tu­ally pre­pared for his re­turn by watch­ing YouTube clips of him­self and his old Port Charles co­horts even as fans were anx­iously await­ing the scenes in which Pa­tient 6 — who rightly or wrongly clearly be­lieves him­self to be Ja­son — would bump into fa­mil­iar faces like Sam and Sonny. “They’re do­ing a great job telling this story,” raves the ac­tor, who knows the au­di­ence The 1995 car crash that changed Ja­son for­ever also had a ma­jor im­pact on the life of his por­trayer. “The tran­si­tion from Ja­son Quartermaine to Ja­son Mor­gan was huge for me, per­son­ally,” Bur­ton says, and it was all about be­ing thrown in to Sonny’s — and thus, por­trayer Mau­rice Be­nard’s — or­bit. “Mau­rice was a huge in­flu­ence and men­tor in my life at the time. He took me un­der his wing, and I lived with the guy and was with his fam­ily all the time. He’s one of my best friends and al­ways will be. He taught me so much, just about life and act­ing.” can some­times get im­pa­tient in sit­u­a­tions such as this. “And I know I’m go­ing to get into it with ev­ery­one soon enough, so I’m just tak­ing it beat by beat.

“I love to act, and now I get to do it again with the peo­ple I love work­ing with, which is amaz­ing,” he gushes. “I signed a long con­tract, and I can’t wait to keep telling good story. There’s a lot com­ing. It’s re­ally go­ing to be great!”
