A Closer Look At Olivia 2.0!
GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Olivia Falconeri came to town with a lot of secrets and a lot of sass… but that was almost a decade ago! The new First Lady of Port Charles has certainly come a long way.
“Olivia’s very different than when she came on the canvas,” observes her portrayer, Lisa LoCicero. “She’s a little less scrappy. In the old days, she loved to get in fights. She was a bit more of a renegade and cared a little less about what people thought about her — which was kinda nice!
“Of course, she had a lot more secrets and a very different reality,” she hastens to add. “She’s learned a lot more self-control in the time she’s been there. She won’t just pop off and punch somebody in the face anymore!”
Though the actress misses scrapping, she enjoys playing the woman behind the mayor. “There hasn’t been a ton to do other than be supportive of Ned — which is certainly a reality for a lot of women, not just the wives of politicians,” LoCicero considers. “And Oliv-
ia’s definitely a big part of the brains of the machine there. She’s coming up with a lot of good ideas — not just emotionally but in terms of how to handle things like when bad guy Jim Harvey was trying to accuse Ned of collusion. And Ned is careful to acknowledge that. He always gives her credit.”
Now that they’ve become Port Charles figureheads, LoCicero doesn’t see any reason life shouldn’t keep getting messy for the couple. “There’s still an opportunity for there to be an emotional storyline for Olivia and Ned,” she insists. “I don’t think they’re going to cheat on each other or do crappy things to each other. They’re more likely to face outside adversity as a team… but you never know!”
“Quick, put an idea in my head.”
