Jack’s “Crazy” Search For Proof!
THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS’ Jack may have hit the paternity jackpot with the news that Phillip Chancellor could possibly be his father — and he’s eager to prove it. Even if it means taking legal action to exhume the body!
The In Depth Story: As por- trayer Peter Bergman points out, “Jack has been so lost since the night the truth came out. This could be the answer to everything.
“And no, it’s not lost on Jack that,” the actor continues slyly, “should he be proven a Chancellor, some claim on the Chancellor legacy is his!”
While Chancellor’s current CEO, Cane, has already been pacing over that possibility, Bergman insists that his character is more interested in his personal life than his profes- sional one. “Jack, more than anything, is much hungrier for a connection than a place to work or a place to own. He is hungry for a concrete familial connection that tells him who he is, that serves as a guide for him in a way that his father and his father’s memory have been a guide for him. He’s lost that, and he’s desperate for it. That is what he is most interested in.”
Before Jack can establish any kind of familial connection, though, he needs to prove that he is actually Phillip’s son. With Phillip III and his son, Chance, off the grid, Jack asked Jill about exhuming Phillip’s body to conduct a DNA test, only to be rebuffed by his ex. “So Jack has no choice but to sue to get the right to exhume the body!” declares Bergman. “There aren’t a whole lot of viable options for Jack to prove what he wants to prove. Now we start looking at some crazy options!”
Jack’s “been pretty desperate” to find out who his father is, says Bergman.
