Keeping It Straight
When Rebecca Herbst clocks out at GH, she leaves Elizabeth in Port Charles. “My worlds don’t really cross that often,” she admits. “I come do my job, and then I leave it here and go home and put on a completely different hat.” That other hat is, of course, Mom — and as any mother can tell you, it’s not always the most comfortable one! “Generally, it’s not my kids that make me go crazy — it’s the mess that can accumulate in half a second,” Herbst cracks. So what’s her secret to keeping things in order? “Each of the kids has a designated step on the staircase and all their stuff gets piled onto their step. As they go up and down, they empty the stairway. That’s one way I’ve tried to keep things somewhat clutter-free, so I’m not the only one cleaning up and taking stuff to their rooms.” Of course, there are still times when she just needs a break from it all. “The other secret to not losing my noodle is, sometimes I just crawl in my bed and turn on the TV,” she confides. “I tell the kids ‘I’m taking a day off!’”
This mom of three strives to stay organized.
