FEARLESS

When Y&R introduced a lesbian love story between Mariah and Tessa, it certainly caused a buzz. Did Grimes find it at all scary to tackle on screen a subject that some people still see as controversial? “Scary is the wrong word — it’s like an excited anxiousness,” the actress clarifies. “For me, I wouldn’t be acting if I didn’t love the challenge, if I didn’t look forward to the challenge and crave it. I want to do different stuff than I’ve done before. It’s the reason why I do it, so I can push myself! To me, you never stop learning and growing, so when I get those opportunities to try something new, it’s less about me being scared, and more like me being, ‘Yeah, let’s go! Let’s do it!’”

The next chapter between Mariah and Tessa is yet to be written.
