UN Sec­re­tary-Gen­eral Ban Ki-moon has ap­pointed Mbaranga Gasarabwe of Rwanda as his deputy spe­cial rep­re­sen­ta­tive for UN Mis­sion in Mali (MI­NUSMA), where she will also serve as UN res­i­dent co­or­di­na­tor, hu­man­i­tar­ian co­or­di­na­tor and res­i­dent rep­re­sen­ta­tive of UNDP. Most re­cently, she served as as­sis­tant sec­re­tary-gen­eral in the Depart­ment of Safety and Se­cu­rity at UN Head­quar­ters. She will suc­ceed David Gressly of the United States.

Ali H. Al-Za’tari of Jor­dan has been ap­pointed as the deputy spe­cial rep­re­sen­ta­tive and deputy head of the UN Sup­port Mis­sion in Libya (UNSMIL). Mr. Al-Za’tari will also serve as UN res­i­dent co­or­di­na­tor, hu­man­i­tar­ian co­or­di­na­tor and res­i­dent rep­re­sen­ta­tive of UNDP. He suc­ceeds Is­mail Ma­madou Diallo of Guinea, who has been ap­pointed as the deputy spe­cial rep­re­sen­ta­tive for the UN Mis­sion in Demo­cratic Re­pub­lic of Congo.

Eu­gene Owusu of Ghana has been ap­pointed as the deputy spe­cial rep­re­sen­ta­tive of the Sec­re­tary-Gen­eral in the UN Mis­sion in South Su­dan (UNMISS). He will also serve as the UN res­i­dent co­or­di­na­tor, hu­man­i­tar­ian co­or­di­na­tor and res­i­dent rep­re­sen­ta­tive of UN De­vel­op­ment Pro­gramme (UNDP). Prior to this ap­point­ment, Mr. Owusu held sim­i­lar po­si­tions, ex­cept that of spe­cial rep­re­sen­ta­tive, with UNDP in Ethiopia. He suc­ceeds Toby Lanzer of the United King­dom.

Mourad Wahba of Egypt has been ap­pointed as the deputy spe­cial rep­re­sen­ta­tive for the UN Sta­bi­liza­tion Mis­sion in Haiti (MINUSTAH), where he will also serve as UN res­i­dent co­or­di­na­tor, hu­man­i­tar­ian co­or­di­na­tor and res­i­dent rep­re­sen­ta­tive of UNDP. Mr. Wahba was the UNDP deputy as­sis­tant ad­min­is­tra­tor and deputy re­gional di­rec­tor for the Re­gional Bureau for Arab States in New York. He will suc­ceed Peter de Clercq of The Nether­lands.
