The Ich­a­bod Crane school district hosts a cap­i­tal pro­ject pub­lic in­for­ma­tion night at 7 p.m. Nov. 14 in the High School au­di­to­rium, 2910 Route 9 in Valatie, just south of the round­about.

Ac­cord­ing to the school district, the event will in­clude a com­pre­hen­sive pre­sen­ta­tion on the pro­posed pro­ject, after which res­i­dents can visit in­for­ma­tional booths on spe­cific pro­ject top­ics where school of­fi­cials will be avail­able to an­swer ques­tions.

The district is propos­ing a $27.12 mil­lion ren­o­va­tion pro­ject to strengthen its ed­u­ca­tional and ath­letic pro­grams, mod­ern­ize class­rooms, and ad­dress health and safety and in­fra­struc­ture needs through­out its cam­pus, district lead­ers said.

The district an­tic­i­pates get­ting 73.5 per­cent of the cost in state build­ing aid, mean­ing the lo­cal share would to­tal less than $7.2 mil­lion. The district will also ap­ply $1 mil­lion in re­serves to fur­ther cut the lo­cal tax im­pact.
