ABC crime show filming in Albany
Police: Expect detours, road closures and parking restrictions all next week
A number of streets and ramps around the city of Albany will close next week for the filming of a new network television show called “Crime,” city officials said Thursday.
Disney’s ABC Studios will be filming at various sites around the city starting Monday, July 16, and lasting through Saturday, July 21, said Brian Shea, chief of staff for Mayor Kathy Sheehan.
The Central Avenue Business Improvement District posted more information about the production on its Facebook page, noting that one of the scenes will include a gunfight action sequence with stunts, a car chase and simulated gunfire.
“This is not a real fight—it isa scene for a TV show,” the post reads. “Albany Police Officers will be supervising and assisting us with our work to ensure everyone’s safety.”
The production is being done in cooperation with the Governor’s Office of Motion Picture and Television Development, the Albany Film Commission and the Albany Police Department, the post says.
Access to businesses will be maintained through a signed detour that will divert traffic around the closures. Albany police will have officers stationed at key locations to direct traffic through intersections during morning and evening drive times.
According to a police advisory, roads closures and detours will be in effect throughout the city at various times from 6 a.m. July 16 to 7 p.m. July 21, or until the filming is complete.
The Clinton Avenue ramp from Water Street to Broadway will be closed from Monday morning to Saturday night.
On Monday only, a signed detour will be in place diverting traffic that uses this ramp north on Quay Street to Water Street, then left on Water Street to Orange Street, right on Orange Street to Broadway, and then right on Broadway back to the intersection of Broadway and Clinton Avenue.
The road closures and detours from 7 p.m. Tuesday to 11:30 p.m. Saturday, July 21, are:
Clinton Avenue ramp from Water Street to Broadway
Colonie Street ramp from I-787 southbound
Water Street from North Ferry Street to Colonie Street
Water Street from Colonie Street to Orange Street
Livingston Avenue from Centre Street to Water Street
