It’s a busy sum­mer for Jeff Bridges, 66, who pro­vides the voice of the el­derly avi­a­tor in the new Net­flix ver­sion of the clas­sic The Lit­tle Prince, fol­lowed by a role in Hell or

High Wa­ter, now in the­aters, as a vet­eran Texas Ranger hot on the trail of two bank rob­bers (Chris Pine and Ben Fos­ter). Here are five facts you may not know about the Os­car-win­ning na­tive of Los An­ge­les.

1. His first cred­ited act­ing role was in 1958 on the TV se­ries Sea Hunt with his fa­ther, Lloyd, and brother, Beau.

2. Jeff, Lloyd and Beau were all mem­bers of the U.S. Coast Guard.

3. When not in front of the cam­era, he takes pho­to­graphs on set, some of which can be seen in the book Pic­tures by Jeff Bridges.

4. His de­but al­bum, Be Here, was re­leased in 2000. His fol­low-up, Jeff Bridges, didn’t come out un­til 2011.

5. In 1983, the long­time hunger ac­tivist founded the End Hunger Net­work. To­day, he is the spokesper­son for the No Kid Hun­gry pro­gram.
