ABQ police seek ‘neck brace bandit’

-

Albuquerque police are trying to identify a man they’ve dubbed the “neck brace bandit” who is suspected of robbing numerous businesses, often while wearing a neck brace.

Officer Fred Duran, an APD spokesman, said the suspect has made off with thousands of dollars in cash.

He didn’t say what businesses were robbed or when the robberies happened, but he said the suspect often passes a note to store employees asking for money. Detectives believe he is armed during the robberies, Duran said.

Duran described the suspect as a white man between 18 and 25 years old and between 6 feet and 6 feet 3 inches tall. He is slender and has dirtyblond or light brown hair.

“He often wears a neck brace during the robberies and further disguises his face with medical tape,” Duran said.

Duran asked anyone with information to call 242-COPS.
