Rosenda (Rose) S. Bar­reras, of Al­bu­querque, NM, cher­ished wife, mother, grand­mother, great­grand­mother, and friend passed away peace­fully at the age of 97 on Sept. 3, 2017. Born in Los Lu­nas, NM, she grad­u­ated from Al­bu­querque Busi­ness Col­lege, and worked for the Eco­nomic De­vel­op­ment Administration as a grant writer and ad­min­is­tra­tor. She re­tired in 1986 as Di­rec­tor of Eco­nomic De­vel­op­ment spe­cial­iz­ing in In­dian Head Start pro­grams, and hous­ing de­vel­op­ment for mul­ti­ple pueb­los dur­ing her ten­ure. In 2008, she was voted, In­spir­ing Women of Ber­nalillo County.

Rose was an ac­tive mem­ber of the com­mu­nity vol­un­teer­ing at the San Felipe church mu­seum and an­nual church fiestas where she was a faith­ful mem­ber.

She was pre­de­ceased by her hus­band Can­de­lario (Candy). She is sur­vived by her daugh­ter Pa­tri­cia Bar­reras; three grand­chil­dren, Bil Hawkins, Kather­ine Bai­ley, Ken Crooks, and six great­grand­chil­dren.

Rosary to be held on Sept. 28, 2017 at 6 pm at San Felipe Church, Mass on Sept. 29, 2017 at 10 am at San Felipe Church, burial to fol­low at Mount Cal­vary.
