Lobo duo earns academic A-A honor
AUSTIN, Texas — University of New Mexico men’s soccer players Jason Beaulieu and Simon Spangenberg were named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) academic All-America team on Thursday.
Beaulieu, a senior with a 3.99 grade-point average in civil engineering, and Spangenberg, a junior with a 4.19 in premechanical engineering, are the 21st and 22nd Lobos in program history to earn the award. New Mexico has the most men’s soccer CoSIDA AllAmericans of any school in the country regardless of division.
Student-athletes must have over a 3.2 grade-point average, be at least a sophomore in academic standing and be a significant contributor on the field.
“Lobo soccer is about excellence in the classroom, in the community and on the playing field,” coach Jeremy Fishbein said. “Jason and Simon truly exemplify everything we stand for as Lobos and I am really excited for both of them. They have extremely bright futures.”
