SF mayor shakes up City Hall

-

SANTA FE — A City Hall shake-up of top jobs under new Mayor Alan Webber continued Monday, with Webber announcing that Land Use Director Lisa Martinez and Parks and Recreation Director Rob Carter had been asked to resign and would leave their jobs at the end of the workday.

“The election was all about change,” Webber said on a conference call with acting City Manager Erik Litzenberg.

Asked about the personnel moves, Litzenberg said they were based in part on past performance. “Really, the team we’re trying to put together is not necessarily about new blood as its about strong, new energy,” said Litzenberg, also the city fire chief.

Webber, elected in March, said department heads in the new administration will end up being split about 50-50 between incumbents and “new faces.” Webber also said Monday that interim directors Shannon Jones in public utilities and Joshua Elicio in information technology will keep their jobs. Carryovers, in addition to Litzenberg at the Fire Department, also will remain atop economic development, asset development, tourism and community services.

In April, former City Manager Brian Snyder was demoted and Lynette Trujillo abruptly retired as human resources director in a controversy over temporary raises that Snyder granted just before Webber took office.
